Gary

Gary is a 57 year-old man who was frustrated with the medical care he was receiving and hoping for a different approach. He had been diagnosed with prediabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. He was overweight and tired all the time. The only option he had been offered was medication and advice to “eat less and exercise more”. His high-stress executive job kept him “too busy” to take the time to make the healthy choices he knew he needed to prevent serious chronic illness later in life.

After a thorough history and lab testing we discovered that Gary had Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance. He also had food allergies, hypothyroidism and low testosterone.

Gary was prescribed a “Lifestyle Medicine Program” to educate and support him in slowly making necessary lifestyle changes. An individually-tailored food and exercise plan, specific nutritional products to restore normal metabolic function and 12-weeks of lifestyle coaching sessions were the foundation of his plan. He was also prescribed appropriate natural thyroid medication and bioidentical testosterone to give him the energy he needed to succeed.

After 12-weeks of dedicated work, we rechecked Gary’s labs and numbers. His cholesterol had dropped significantly, his blood sugar was much improved and his hypertension was nearly normal. He reported feeling less tired, was making more effort to exercise regularly, and had discovered it was “easier than he thought” to eat healthy.
